The Trip Requires You to_ Master the Art of Letting Go

The Trip Requires You To: Master the Art of Letting Go

“Some people believe holding on and hanging in there are signs of great strength. However, there are times when it takes much more strength to know when to let go and then do it.” ― Ann Landers  The assessment of letting go Letting go can be one of those choices that’s difficult to decide. Our hearts are into that someone or something. We fear failure or guilt and hold on sometimes longer than what we should because of pride. However, letting go can be freeing and relieving from a relationship with that someone or something. Regardless of whether they were negative or toxic person in relationship, the death or passing of a loved one, a business relationship or arrangement that is not following the vision intended etc. It can be the act that moves you forward into a direction that allows more doors to open and opportunity. It may not be evident in the immediate moments, in fact it may be hard to endure. Being without or beginning to second guess your decision. As psychologist Daniel Gilbert describes in his book, Stumbling on Happiness, “Negative events do affect us”. Furthermore, he describes that the duration is not as long as we assume and in the hotness of that situation it can be the only thing that appears to have importance. But don’t let that deter you, change your mind or go against your first instinct. Don’t let that overshadow the analysis you’ve made by observations in the actions or how that relationship affected the value you hold of the important things […]

The Trip Requires You To- Have Patience

The Trip Requires You To: Have Patience

“Patience will achieve more than force.” Author – Edmund Burke Patience, achieves more than force. Did you comprehend the idea? That force will not provide the things that are worth waiting for, could lead to things before its time, and can distract from the evaluations necessary to do before action. That we gain clarity, grow, are wiser, and stand stronger, if we can understand patience. Forcing things to happen can feel false and unnatural. It may even boomerang on you. You can’t force someone to feel emotions toward you or force opportunities in a career. Time is required for things to develop. Let the results be true, earned, and strong enough to build on top of. “Patience is a virtue.” A proverbial phrase and inscribed in the Bible in the book of Galatians. I heard this phrase often coming up. As a kid, it immediately falls in one ear and out the other. A wise word upon deaf ears. That saying means nothing to you at that time. You want what you want and feel that everything is a need. I was a stubborn kid like many of you. So, yep I didn’t get it then either.  Didn’t appreciate it in adolescents, and heck it took time to recognize it in fullness in young adulthood. I still in those upper years wanted what I wanted and had to prioritize need over want. I became a mother, that’s when the tangible practice into understanding in it came to grasps. Understanding and learning patience has developed along the years. It developed as I […]

The Trip Requires You To- Block Out the Noise

The Trip Requires You To: Block Out the Noise

“If we waited for perfect conditions to create good shit, we’ll never get anything done. Sometimes you have to block out the noise” – Trip (Movie), Jhene Aiko.  I recently was inspired of a notion to block out the noise, a statement made in a video posted by Jhene Aiko from her latest album, Trip. It was said to her by a man that stumbled upon her trying to write on rocks overlooking a waterfall. She described the atmosphere as her peace. She liked solitude when writing down her thoughts. The man replied to her, “You can create your own peace, peace comes from within.” He laughs, and then follows with, “There is so much in life beyond our control. If we waited for perfect conditions to create good shit, we’ll never get anything done. Sometimes you have to block out the noise.” The scene ends with him asking her to come on this journey with him. Then it begins, music plays in the background “While We’re Young” a new release of her current album. The background of this story is about loss. She has lost her brother to cancer. It wasn’t just the loss that resonated personally, as much as it was the quote and the conversation she had with this guy. Him telling her that she can’t always just go somewhere physical to find peace, but peace must within. Block out the noise and distractions to focus on and create what you want out of life. As a writer, if you can’t find a way to block out […]

7 Ways to Unwind on your Writing Sunday

Unwind – relaxing after a period of work or tension. I concur with that, but also add another comment, to unwind as a prep for focusing on your writing. Even as a release or action to center after writing. Unwinding is crucial for our balance. Our body needs to regenerate and our mind to disconnect. Our health is at stake and our body does not fail to remind us sooner or later when we pull a little too much on the rope. So how do we really unwind especially on our writing Sunday? The ways mentioned below should help and can be done before, during, or after:

better to love than regret

Ordinary Impression to Extraordinary Impression

Your Book Should Have a Lasting First Impression

A good impression secures a lasting one We live in a world full of new stimuli and situations. Every day, despite the routine, we must face situations and elements that we had not had to face previously. Making a good impression secures a lasting one. The brain needs to be organized in some way. If every time you faced something new you had to analyze all the little details to understand, it would be terribly inefficient. Thus, before a new situation, what the brain does is: Make a first impression to decide if it is “good or bad.” Secondly, organize and classify that information to be able to access it quickly if necessary. This gives rise to a first impression. A good text is not only one that presents relevant information, but rather that which is well built. It catches the attention of the reader and creates a lasting first impression. Such a text is also one that makes sense to anyone who reads it, that is. It communicates in some way with who is on the other side Use your creativity whenever possible. Let’s face it: no one likes reading a text that adds little or nothing to their life. As a writer, producing a great and attention catching text demonstrates your level of critical judgment and mastery over the chosen subject. Furthermore, a book which would have a lasting first impression must have the following characteristics: Logical and navigable structure The parts of a book follow one another in a logical order.  Which enables both linear reading from […]

Single Status, Single Doesn’t Mean Lonely

Being single. When someone says, “I’m single.” What is often the thought? – Single doesn’t mean lonely. Respect to those that understand that. We are living in a society where we see everyone with an eye of social status such as married, single or committed. If someone says that having a married status is not good or having a single status is not good then we will start believing this. But it is not a good way to live. Everyone is independent in their life, and have the freedom to live their life according to their desires and wishes. I would like to discuss the status of single people in our societies. The most common thing that comes to our mind after listening, that this person is single, he or she might have any physical or psychological problem, that’s why no one wants to stay with them in a relationship. Or some think that the person maybe flirty or not a loyal person or maybe ditched by someone. These are the comments we assume after seeing a single person. Do we ever think they might like to be single? I will explain to you why we think the opposite of this, because our new generation gets ashamed by living single and believe that they must be in a relationship to look like they’re complete, on the way toward marriage, or secure the fact they are not going to be lonely and alone for others. I think that if they stop thinking like that, then there is no pressure. It would be […]

Top 10 tips for Focusing on your Writing

Whoever writes knows that apart from being a creative act, which requires a lot of imagination and inspiration, focusing on writing is also a state of mind – without concentration, words fade and fail to fill an increasingly white page. The rule of thumb for successful writers is: no matter the medium, writing any type of text requires concentration. But everyone has gone through a time when distractions call us and attract far more than the task we need to accomplish. Have you started a blog, book, TV script or movie and are not getting ahead? These 10 tips will help you focus while you write! Follow: Admit that distractions exist To begin with, you should realize that sooner or later you will be distracted. Accept reality and do not feel guilty every time it happens. Now that you know the enemy, you can better prepare to defeat him. Whenever you notice distraction approaching to disrupt, take control of the situation and remember how important it is to always stay focused. Make a daily schedule We have seen that focusing while writing is vital. But a lot of people think that the very important thing is to have plenty of time available. Not true, as it is possible to manage the time available to meet writing goals. Look at your weekly obligations and see where there is space to devote to what you need to write. It can be an hour a day during the week, plus the whole afternoon of Saturday and Sunday night. The essential thing is to […]

Writers Make Great Listeners Post

Writers Make Great Listeners

Ever wondered why writers make great listeners? As a writer, being a great listener makes you see the world through the eyes of others and increases your capacity for understanding and empathy. It also facilitates contact with the outside world and develops your communicative skills. Knowing how to listen helps you to better understand the real situation of things and to know which words to use or avoid. It may seem simple, but listening, especially in discussions, requires real effort and lots of practice. By paying attention to your audience as a writer, you can observe and analyze their level of interest, which would make it much easier to adapt from one situation to another. Therefore, a writer who listens a great deal is more likely to provide real answers and helps with real questions, as solutions make people happy. By taking the time to listen, you are more likely to say something interesting to your community through your writing. Think about how this can be practical when you try to write an opinion piece. Have you ever listened to people around you? Not only to those who talk about things that you treat in your write-ups, but of purely routine subjects? You’ll be amazed at how many interesting ideas you can generate from simple chats with friends. Meeting the most basic needs can make most people happy. A good writer knows what the masses want to read about. Listening is also a good way to gain more knowledge. Knowledge gives you more opportunities and allows you to explore fields […]

Remember Why You Started

Remember why you started…   I concur of the feeling all to well. (slight grin). A true statement. It will be thought or said continuously. We hit rough patches on the road, we become frustrated, or down at times.   On a personal note… I can attest to it, there were situations that had me frustrated to the the max. I wanted to scream. Overly hurt and disappointed by the actions of hate and injustice foreseen in our nation daily. Workload and school load seemed unbearable. Not feeling well, and not enough time to rest. Personal emotions about a relationship. I was feeling down. Trust me when I tell you, that much uncertainty and stress can make you tired. All the while, there’s still responsibilities and goals.   Like many I wish… To not view the things seen or have heard that are just outright wrong. Hope for a better tomorrow. The current outlook showed more security, comfort ability, and affordability. Nevertheless, I’m grateful to live another day. It’s not promised, there have been many gone too soon.   A word to share with you… T Fortitude. Go ahead and look it up. I’ll wait. The very definition is why I can say, you have to walk in it. Definitely not easy all the time. However, in time things will get better. I’ve had to do walk in it daily before and some of the hardest moments of my past, I got through them with it.    I remembered why I started… Why I went back to finish my degree 2 […]

A Role to Never Regret

Find a way or make one: A concept to live by. life can develop in many ways. Currently mine has developed with my focus being a good parent, hardworking student, dedicated career professional. Being driven to acquire more toward the skill set, that will enhance to wherever my career leads. The development of projects and owning my work as an Author. Nevertheless, goals in being an Entrepreneur in the next five years. Continuing to progress healthy relationships familial or romantic. My visions are wildly elaborate, full of color, and large. Dreams only stop when you tell yourself you can’t. My answer to that is, I never will for I CAN.

Stress…Who wants that?

We honestly can say that none of us wants to stress. There’s everyday stress that comes with the territory of life and some that’s just plain unnecessary. There’s stress that has been building over time or stress related habits that we do, but don’t know that we are the causation of the stress in our own lives. I hear it often, I don’t want to stress about this…or that. Why do things have to be so complicated? When will it all align itself accordingly? I want to share with you my strategies of how I daily dive in to overcome stress. First, I want to share with you a personal story. About how I am just as humanly flawed and have had stress even back in younger days. In that time, the stress was more in a need of affirmation and acceptance that carried over into young adulthood. It’s what I believe many still struggle with because, it has a way of manifesting itself into social and communication relations.

Retrospective Analysis of My Personality

As I reflect on my personality and the changes that I have progressed in life thus far. Many lessons due to stages, experiences, and learned behavior. All factors  that have contributed to the maturity and wisdom I am thankful to have. It provided me a better understanding and how to be a better person, that’s someone else’s mother, daughter, sister, and a friend to many. I believe I have changed in many ways, but remained the same. My spirit for one is the same. I am still just as warm, thoughtful, thinking constantly, and observant person. As I have become older, some of the introverted behavior has become more extroverted. My maturity level has grown with the positive and negative experiences I’ve had. I’ve found myself, in a lot of ways.

Your Job Is Not to Make Everyone Happy

A statement that speaks truth and volumes. You can’t always make everyone happy. It’s not your job to. Your entitlement is to make yourself happy. Love yourself inside and out. Love who you are and what you see, even when faced to view yourself in a mirror. With that self-confidence and appreciation, you then have an aura around you. A light that shines in interaction with others and they will want to know you just because of it. Making others happy should be a want, it should be selfless and not forced. It should become a thoughtful gesture, a caring attitude toward an event that has or will happen in that person’s life. It should make you happy to make that person embrace a happy moment. However, it is not a job that you should feel overwhelmed to keep up or bit your tongue from speaking truth’s when necessary. That the minute you stop doing so much to provide a happiness to someone, they don’t know how to stand or be happy on their own. You fear speaking on negative behavior or actions that the person exhibits in fear of losing or hurting that relationship with them.

New Year…New Food for Thought

The new way of the land: 12 days into the New Year of 2017, and we are already worried about the decisions, laws, and regulations that will be placed to control various aspects of the United States. What ways will these decisions affect the lifestyles of the people? Will the things that we put in a rank of importance such as education, morals, and principles reign supreme over P.M.S. Power, Money, and Sex? A formulated acronym courtesy of my Business Law Professor, Dr. William Stone.  These pieces woven together to form this acronym, appears quite well to be the determinate fuels of the personal vehicles driven. The threat of concern is not now one’s personal perspective, a small population, or group’s ideals, but one that threatens the law of the land and a massive population. The current existence hangs in the balance  as a person that shall sit in a place in which takes one of the highest crowns has their own ideals not reflective of the greater good. A position of authority, and a majority party support of individuals whose philosophies and ideals are similar of the person that wears it.
